62-Year-Old Ronnie Coleman Inspires Bodybuilding World With His Active Shoulder Workouts
8-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman often shares his workout videos and health updates on his Instagram. Coleman has a reputation for following an intense routine during his Olympia days, but more importantly, he still motivates thousands with his determination and strength, even after undergoing 13 surgeries in his lifetime.
On July 7, Coleman again shared an Instagram post, featuring his shoulder workout with the caption, “Lightweight shoulder day at the Flex in the new GTS evolve shorts from @tlfapparel!!”
In the post, he was seen wearing gym apparel from Take Life Further and performing Seated Dumbbell Lateral Raises.
This is an isolation exercise that primarily targets the lateral deltoids and helps build shoulder width and roundness.
His current shoulder exercises focus on maintaining mobility and supporting rehabilitation rather than the heavy lifting he used to do in his younger days.
Apart from that, instead of pushing 250-lb dumbbells with max effort, Coleman's current routine uses joint-friendly movements.
During his Olympia days, Coleman used to follow a completely different shoulder workout routine.
On April 24, 2024, the YouTube channel Mocvideo Productions shared a clip of Coleman's shoulder workout from his early days that included:
- Seated Barbell Press: 4 to 5 sets of 10 to 12 reps
- Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 3 to 4 sets of 10 to 12 reps
- Dumbbell Side Lateral Raises: 4 sets of 12 to 15 reps
- Dumbbell or EZ-Bar Front Raises: 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps
- Bent-Over Lateral Raises: 3 to 4 sets of 12 to 15 reps.
In the July 7 video, Coleman also mentioned the Flex gym, with whom he has a long history.
Ronnie Coleman's workout shared by Metro Flex Gym
According to the article shared by Metro Flex Gym, Coleman has a relationship with the gym from his competition days, even when the gym lacked modern amenities.
The article noted that Coleman used to follow a weekly workout split in the gym that included:
- Monday: Chest and triceps
- Tuesday: Back
- Wednesday: Shoulders
- Thursday: Back again, trained twice weekly for width and thickness
- Friday: Legs
- Saturday: Arms and shoulders
- Sunday: Rest.
So, no matter what age Coleman is, he has always been active in his daily life and in fitness.
