Spain manager Luis de la Fuente shows muscular biceps at 65

At 65, Luis de la Fuente isn’t just managing Spain from the sidelines; he is turning heads with his seriously impressive, muscular physique. He gained immense respect after guiding Spain to the UEFA Euro 2024 title as national team manager.

A recent Instagram post shared by Men’s Health highlighted his impressive physique, sharing a workout video of the 65-year-old.

“Spain manager Luis de la Fuente didn’t need such large biceps to lift the 6.175kg World Cup trophy, but they certainly wouldn’t have hurt. An avid gym-goer, De la Fuente has spent years sculpting his impressive physique,” a part of the caption read.

The video features him engaging in preacher curls with impressive form and 16-kg weights. He admitted to learning the importance of strength training only after suffering a serious knee injury in the late 1980s while playing for Sevilla FC.

The Instagram post reflected the years of dedicated training that he has put into staying fit and building his coveted physique and large arms.

According to Men’s Health, Fuente revealed how his time at the gym isn’t just for his body, but also for his mind.

“For me, it's a relaxing moment; it's an hour where I'm only thinking about my things, about myself; sometimes I think about work and other times I think about nothing,” he revealed.

His comeback story is rich proof that consistent training and a proper mindset can pull you through any kind of adversity.

Luis De la Fuente’s career, injuries, and comeback

Fuente’s career has been filled with success; however, he has also faced multiple adversities, injuries, and setbacks. That said, his resilience and dedication have proved that he has never given up and continues being an inspiration, even at 65.

He enjoyed a respectable career as a player, winning the La Liga with Athletic Bilbao and lifting the Spanish league title under Javier Clemente in 1982-1983. During the following year, he played a major role, helping Athletic Bilbao win both the Copa del Rey and La Liga title during one season.

He went on to add yet another major domestic trophy after winning the Supercopa de España with Athletic Bilbao in 1984.

His achievements as a coach were nothing short of extraordinary, making him known as one of Spain’s most accomplished national team coaches.

From leading Spain to win the UEFA European Under-21 Championship to being named the IFFHS World’s Best National Coach, he has reached great heights in his career.

However, he suffered multiple injuries during his career, from a serious knee ligament injury in the late 1980s to chronic knee pain, forcing him into early retirement at the age of 33.

Even so, he decided to continue training during his rehabilitation, showcasing that walking away was not an option for him.
