The California gubernatorial aspirant, Steve Hilton, became the latest addition to the list of renowned personas to pay homage to Arnold Schwarzenegger. While bodybuilders often strike Schwarzenegger's classic pose for the purpose, Hilton did it by upgrading his apparel and a few endearing words.

On June 3, Hilton appeared on stage in Huntington Beach after securing nearly 28% of the votes in the California Governor's primary election. While speaking, he showed off the inner lining of his black suit with an American flag on one side and California's state flag on the other. Well, Hilton's uncanny choice of apparel stems from one of his interactions with Schwarzenegger when he was the governor of California.

Hilton revealed, "I remember when I became an American citizen, that certain governor [Arnold], he said congratulations. He made a very nice video." But he added that Schwarzenegger wasn't happy with his outfit, quoting, "You've got the wrong jacket." As a result, he upgraded his outfit this time to respect Schwarzenegger's choice. He said, "Arnold, that was for you."

Besides all this, Hilton also highlighted how Schwarzenegger's journey from being an Austrian immigrant in the US to the governor of California seems almost impossible. He stated, "I know that some of you may be watching [Arnold] and saying, 'Who is this guy with a funny accent?' Thinks he can be the governor of California."

Subsequently, the 53-year-old appreciated The Terminator actor for turning the almost impossible into a reality, saying, "Well, you know, there was actually an immigrant who was governor of California."

Today, after being loved by thousands of Americans and even serving a term as the governor of California, Schwarzenegger can afford to be happy about relocating to the US from Austria.

But there's an untoward factor that propelled him to take this decision. And surprisingly, it is related to his own father.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's father was a major reason why he left home

Not much is known about the nature of Schwarzenegger's parents, as he rarely talks about them on public platforms. However, he once revealed a few characteristics of his father in a nine-year-old interview with Graham Bensinger, mentioning how they made him want to leave home.

Besides calling his father a "plus" in many ways and a "minus" in others, the 7x Mr. Olympia stated, "My father really contributed to a lot of my hunger. And my father contributed for me to wanting to get away from Austria."

Schwarzenegger elaborated, "They were not like, 'Come on down and stay as long as you want.'" No! At 15, I already had to pay to live at home. I made 300 schillings as an apprentice, and a 100 schillings I had to give to my parents, so I could get the food... They made me contribute, and I hated that." He also noted that none of his friends had faced such a scenario.

This is where his resolve hardened, as he described, "So, I said [to myself], 'I'm gonna get away as fast as I can, and I'm gonna show you guys."

Considering Schwarzenegger's current notoriety, this case can be taken as a classic example of a blessing in disguise. It came in the form of his father's unusual strictness, but eventually led him to the hearts of a plethora of Americans, with even a gubernatorial aspirant like Hilton respecting his choice.
