Sylvester Stallone’s Movie Franchise Dethrones Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Action Classic From Streaming Numbers

Sylvester Stallone has claimed a new victory over Arnold Schwarzenegger on the streaming charts. Data from Tubi shows the Creed series currently outperforming the Predator franchise.

The decades-old saga of Sylvester Stallone - Arnold Schwarzenegger box-office rivalry just hit another milestone this year. While everyone thought they had reached a truce, there is another twist in the tale. Stallone has taken the lead again.

But since this is now the era of streaming services, the fight is for streaming charts instead of box-office numbers. According to MovieWeb, Sly's Rocky series seems to be a hit among online viewers more than Dutch's Predator series.

To be more precise, both franchises are popular on streaming services, but Stallone's Rocky spin-off is doing much better. Two of its sequels, Creed II (2018) and Creed III (2023) took the top spots among the most popular titles on the free streaming platform Tubi. Schwarzenegger's The Predator (2018) and Predator (1987) are eighth and ninth.

In 1987, Schwarzenegger played Dutch, the fearless paramilitary soldier facing the alien hunter in the original film, and never reprised the role. But the Predator franchise kept on going with multiple storylines. Over time, the franchise shifted toward sci-fi, with their last release being Predator: Badlands (2025).

Stallone, however, kept the Rocky series going with its spin-off, Creed. But the Hollywood legend decided to write off Rocky Balboa and serve as a producer after Creed II. The fourth installment of the spin-off and overall eighth movie of the series is still unconfirmed, but there will be a biopic, which is set to be released in November 2026.

The movie, called I Play Rocky, will focus on the real-life events that led Stallone to write and star in one of the most iconic underdog movies of all time. The movie has been greenlit by Amazon and MGM Studios, and will be released on the 50th Anniversary of Stallone’s debut as Rocky Balboa.

Although neither of them appears in Creed III and The Predator, this sudden rise in popularity is proof of the legacy of both cult classics and how they're still relevant, despite it being years after their release.

The Schwarzenegger-Stallone Rivalry

Arnold Schwarzenegger has always been candid about his rivalry with Sylvester Stallone. In countless interviews, he recalled how the two Hollywood legends competed for everything from who makes better movies to who has a better physique.

In an interview with Andy Cohen, Schwarzenegger once revealed, “We were kind of attacking each other and doing nasty things and saying nasty things about each other and all these stupid things.”

Their rivalry finally ended when the Terminator got an opportunity to open a Planet Hollywood franchise.

“All of a sudden, I started working with Robert Earl and Keith Parish to create the Planet Hollywood franchise, those restaurants. The next thing I know is that I get a phone call from my lawyer, who was also Sly’s lawyer. He said, ‘Arnold, is there any kind of room for Sly in Planet Hollywood?’ ”

The former Governor of California saw this as a great opportunity to finally bury the hatchet between the two, as he 'had grown out of his craziness by that point.'
