As actors grow older and reach their 40s, they usually get more supporting roles and fewer action-driven characters to portray on screen because of age-related physical constraints. But that’s not the case with American actor Lee Pace.

At 47, Pace maintains elite-level fitness and continues to showcase his athleticism and action on the big screen, so let’s understand the actor’s secret behind his high athleticism and fitness.

On May 6, BoxLife Magazine's Instagram handle posted a captioned photo of Lee Pace, the 47-year-old star of Apple TV+'s Foundation, with the caption: “Lee Pace, the 47-year-old star of Apple TV+'s Foundation, keeps fit with a surprisingly chill approach to health.”

While speaking to GQ, the Foundation actor revealed his training routine and said, “I worked very hard with Ian Benson, who has been my trainer since season one [Foundation].” The actor’s Captain Marvel workout includes:

  • Heavyweight lifting
  • Air resistance fan exercise bike 
  • Swimming (1-2 times a week)
  • Running
  • Walking
  • Other functional physical movements (as per the requirement of roles)
  • Exploring new cities through jogging and bustling

He works out 7 days a week and said, “I was working out every day for about two and a half hours… in a very relaxed way. And then we’d go play around on the beach for a while.”

Apart from this, the actor from “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” also practices yoga. He said, “I did yoga. I found [an instructor on an app named] Joanna, and she led me through the same exact two-hour yoga class every single day, and it was great. Such a great practice. Very relaxing, really good.”

Besides training, one non-negotiable for Pace is his sleep. The actor goes to bed at 10 and wakes up at 7, so he gets 9 to 12 hours of sleep daily. He said, “One of my favorite things to do is sleep. I love a nap. I like to get to bed early and wake up early.”

Beyond training and sleep, the 2003 Golden Globe Award nominee eats a balanced diet.

Lee Pace’s Diet and Longevity Philosophy

While speaking to GQ, Pace revealed that he prefers to eat healthy, self-cooked food so he can manage his calorie intake.

He prefers a healthy, nutritious, and well-balanced diet to fuel his busy, demanding lifestyle as an actor. A protein-rich breakfast includes:

  • Eggs
  • Toast
  • Coffee
  • Apple
  • Orange juice

Revolt actor further said, “If there's a good avocado, we'll definitely have that.”

When asked about his cheat meals, the star of Guardians of the Galaxy said he really doesn’t believe in cheat meals or in restrictive, guilt-based dieting. He said, “If I want to eat something else, I just eat it. I don't think about it as a cheat.”

Talking about his philosophy of longevity, Pace said: “Be less stressed… eat healthy.”
