“They Look Like Refrigerators”- Arnold’s Son Joe Baena on Nick Walker, Hadi Choopan & Others
On May 25, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son, Joe Baena, joined former MMA fighter Axel Guerra on Guerra’s YouTube channel. While working out together, Baena and Guerra also discussed the upcoming Mr. Olympia and other topics related to bodybuilders, including Hadi Choopan and Nick Walker.
During the session, when Guerra asked Baena about his current favorite bodybuilder, the son of the Austrian Oak said,
“I've liked Andrew Jack for like the last four years…. I've wanted him to win. He finally won the Arnold Classic.” Baena also said he wants Jacked to win the upcoming Mr. Olympia. He also admitted that, along with Jacked, Choopan has a ripped physique. For Baena, the overall shape is important. And that's why the son of 7-time Mr. Olympia added,
“I like Andrew Jack's shape. Even Samson, uh, I like his shape. It's taller. It's more aesthetically pleasing. It's more aesthetically pleasing. It's more of an X-frame to me. Derek, Hadi….. The Mutant (Nick Walker).... It's more like a block. They look like refrigerators. They're just like huge, ripped, but it's just not for It's not for me.”
In professional bodybuilding, comparing a bodybuilder’s physique to a refrigerator refers to a wide waistline and a lack of V-taper.

In today’s mass monster era, bodybuilders in the open physique division have intense muscle mass, but it is not easy to pack on 300 lbs of muscle in a perfect way, which often creates a frame that results in a thick midsection.
From that love of a perfect physique, Baena has developed his interest in staying natural and has won professional bodybuilding competitions in the natural divisions.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Joe Baena on staying natural
Baena made headlines in March by winning his first professional bodybuilding debut at the NPC Natural Colorado State competition. In that competition, he won first place in multiple divisions, including the Men’s Open Body Heavyweight Class, Men’s Classic Physique True Novice, and Men’s Classic Physique Novice.
Not only that, but Baena also won his Pro Card in April by winning the INBA Iron Gladiator Classic Physique Championship. And all of these he achieved by staying natural and maintaining a physique that he admires.
During an interview with GQ, Baena explained his decision to stay natural, "I’ve always said if your goal is not to become Mr. Olympia, I personally don’t see the point of taking s*******.”
So, Baena prefers a classic X-frame look to the ultra-dense refrigerator look, validating his philosophy by winning many natural competitions.
