With just 3 weeks to go for the Arnold Classic 2026, the stage is ready for a power clash as Mike Sommerfeld, the 2025 winner of the event in the Classic Physique division, will face debuting Sam Sulek.

With a healthy comparison between the youthful momentum and the proven dominance starting to dominate the bodybuilding world, ULTRAPRODUCTIONS shared an Instagram post featuring four images of Sommerfeld and Sulek's physiques in different poses.

Its caption read, "MIKE SOMMERFELD VS SAM SULEK. 3 WEEKS OUT. FIRST PRO DEBUT experience for @sam_sulek."

Sulek earned his Pro Card in 2025 by winning the Arnold Amateur. Since then, he has been seen to work on his physique. The young bodybuilder also shocked the community with his announcement that he would train himself for the Arnold Classic 2026. His snaps in the Instagram post say that he his leaving no stone unturned to win it.

Considering that Sulek will be competing against Sommerfeld, right at his pro-bodybuilding debut, ULTRAPRODUCTIONS added, "This isn’t just a debut. This is a collision of eras."

In 2025, Sommerfeld defeated Logan Franklin, despite the latter impressing the judges with his stature and detailed hamstring and glute work.

Even at the 2024 Classic Physique Olympia, he gave a tough fight to the winner, Chris Bumstead, and trailed him by a mere 3 points on the scoreboard.

So, a "Hunger vs Legacy…. New blood vs The Champion" battle awaits fans at the Arnold Classic 2026. But which one out of these two are the noted legends of the sport favoring?

Bodybuilding Veterans’ Prediction About Sam Sulek and Mike Sommerfeld's fate at Arnold Clasic 2026

On January 16, Chris Cormier and Dennis James expressed their opinions about Sulek and Sommerfeld's physiques for Arnold Classic 2026.

While James praised Sulek’s conditioning, Cormier also admitted that he is impressed by his physique. He said, “I like what he’s looking like. His back improved a lot, and that was something I was looking at when he was an amateur. I like what he’s doing."

However, they didn't pick a clear winner out of Sommerfeld and Sulek for the Arnold Classic 2026. Cormier stated, "I’m looking forward to see how he does at this Arnold Classic. I want to see how he’s going to pair up, but I think he’s going to be better than what people think."

Nevertheless, both the veterans pererred Sommerfeld to win over Wesley Vissers in the contest.

James said, "If Mike is in shape, I don’t think Wesley can beat him. Cormier echoed the same sentiment and said, “It looks like Mike is in really good shape. His shape is just going to carry him and the experience he has; I just don’t see that being a problem for him”.
