Tom Brady Reveals Current Weight & How Swimming Helped Him With Full-Body Workout at 48
With chiseled arms and a lean core, the seven-time Super Bowl winner, Tom Brady, looks much fitter than most of his age. A month ago, the 48-year-old shared how swimming has helped him maintain his weight with its full-body workout properties.
On May 10, Brady hosted the fitness-focused social media influencer, Jesse James West, at his residence, where the duo delved into several activities and chit-chats for West's YouTube video. Shortly after their conversation began, West highlighted Brady's habit of swimming, which led him to describe how it has helped him reach his desired weight.
"You know what I've realized over the years?" the former New England Patriots quarterback said. "This is one of the best workouts for me. Kind of full body."
Brady revealed that he weighed "225 lbs" while playing in his final NFL season in 2022. However, with his knack for swimming and other exercises, the 48-year-old said that he currently weighs "probably 215 lbs."

Just before this, while discussing Brady's habit of swimming frequently, West joked about whether he was trying to be the next Michael Phelps. Brady replied with a modest "not that level," but described that he gradually came to know about the significance of swimming to maintain a fit physique.
Athletes often tend to gain weight after hanging up their boots, as their bodies aren't required to go through the same physical stress after retirement. However, Brady stands as an exception here.
The former NFL quarterback retired in February 2023. Post-retirement, he added swimming into his workout rotation.
Meanwhile, as he gave just an outline of his thoughts about swimming in West's YouTube video, the retired NFL star has also revealed the specific method in which he uses swimming to be the best version of himself.
Tom Brady's swimming routine for his role as a color analyst
On-camera roles like sports anchoring and analysis require professionals to maintain a presentable appearance. Brady was well aware of this when he signed up for the role of Fox Sports' NFL color analyst in 2022.
Hence, he prepared a specified swimming routine to maintain his fitness and ensure he shines while being on camera.
Brady disclosed his swimming-based workout routine with an Instagram post in September 2024. While there were other exercises in his regimen, like weighted step-ups and heavy resistance band push-ups, the retired NFL star paid special attention to swimming.
Initially, he described the reason behind focusing on swimming.
"Added some swimming into the workout routine this year… great muscle resistance and some aerobic cardio all at once," Brady mentioned.
The 48-year-old also summarized the specifics of the routine, which are as follows:
- Warm up with 4x 100m freestyle
- 4x 25m fast swimming
- 1x 25m recovery round
- 2x 200m final rounds
Brady’s Instagram posts suggest that swimming has contributed to his overall fitness and helped him maintain a toned physique at 48.
