After hanging up the gloves a year ago, The Gypsy King is preparing for his return. The 37-year-old is defitintly look sharp in training.
Tyson Fury has revealed his comeback timeline and is already deep in camp, preparing to face Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 in a Netflix-streamed showdown. On February 4, the British boxer gave fans a glimpse of his gym session.
The former world heavyweight champion posted a montage of his leg training on Instagram, featuring 20 kg squats followed by a 150 kg leg press. “Who knew lifting such heavy weights would be this easy? squat with 20kg and leg press 150kg 😮 getting so strong now can't wait to fight,” Fury captioned.
After announcing retirement last year following back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, he has been preparing for a comeback in Thailand.
The return is expected to take place in the UK, marking his first bout there since beating Derek Chisora in 2022. Fury announced his comeback on January 4, confirming he would return to boxing. “Been away for a while, but I’m back now, 37 years old and still punching. Nothing better to do than punch men in the face and get paid for it.”
Since then, he has been fully committed to his training. Although he is a former champion, his opponent should not be underestimated, boasting a 21–2 record and having recently strengthened his credentials by dominating Britain’s Dave Allen.
The Stakes Involved in the Tyson Fury vs. Aslanbek Makhmudov Match
The winner of this matchup will be well-positioned to climb to the top of the rankings, as outlined by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.
"As a former champion, he has rights and privileges, and absolutely I am sure the winner will be highly ranked in the WBC," Sulaiman told Sky Sports.
“[Makhmudov] was a WBC International and Silver champion, he's solid, strong. To come back from a long layoff out the ring, it's an interesting challenge for Fury,” he added.
And that’s not all, as the winner will get closer to facing Oleksandr Usyk. That's a match-up Tyson Fury will be even more interested in pursuing.
Sulaiman believes that Fury can still have a long career in boxing, even though he is 37 years old and has been a professional fighter since 2008.
