Why Did Chuck Norris Prefer Eating Lean Proteins Over Red Meat?

According to Bennett M. Sherman of NAD+ Aging Science, Chuck Norris eats lean protein and follows a well-maintained diet. But why?

The answer can be found in Norris' statement when he once said, “You know, I’m 84 today, but I feel like I’m 48.”

At 84, Norris still maintains a lean physique, thanks to his workout and the food that supports it. Beyond that, his physique is primarily fueled by nutrient-dense foods and the avoidance of processed foods.

The practice is not new. When Norris was 56, he said to the Los Angeles Times, “When you are past your 30s, you can’t eat anything you want.”

So let's see what Norris's current lean protein diet is.

Lean protein includes:

  • Grilled chicken
  • Fish
  • Turkey

Through these protein sources, he not only gets energy but also essential amino acids that help him maintain and repair muscle.

Apart from lean protein, Norris also eats components like:

  • Vegetables such as broccoli, kale, and spinach
  • Essential fats, including olive oil and nuts
  • Whole grains like brown rice and quinoa
  • Fruits

A balanced diet is not only about what you eat. It also suggests what must be avoided.

Chuck Norris's list of avoidable foods

Norris avoids some specific foods like:

  • Processed foods, such as packaged foods, that contain excessive sugar, salt, and additives
  • Sugary drinks, including fruit juice and soda
  • Red meat
  • Fried foods
  • Refined carbohydrates.

Norris was determined enough in his 50s to take care of his health and food choices.

He once said, “In my 20s, I’d eat burritos, hamburgers, prime rib, potatoes, anything. When I hit my mid-30s--36, 37--no matter how hard I worked out, I wasn’t burning the calories off. I had to rethink my eating habits.

I used to do pancakes, but now if I do that, I feel really sluggish.”
