After the 2022 Olympia, the IFBB Pro William Bonac took a break from the sport, but despite a successful comeback in 2025, the 43-year-old recently revealed he doesn't feel the same about the sport.

A four-day-old Instagram post from Beyond The Stage TV showed a segment from the January 20 episode of the Unwracked podcast featuring Bonac. 

In it, he said, "The way I see bodybuilding is going, my passion for it, my love for it, you know, like it's kind of fading."

Bonac's comments might make many wonder why a decorated bodybuilder like him doesn't feel the same affinity towards the sport. However, no speculation was required, as he disclosed the reason himself.

The two-time Arnold Classic champion explained that the change in the landscape of the sport doesn't make him feel at home anymore. As a result, his love for bodybuilding is declining.

Bonac said, “You see me on stage, I want to talk with everybody, you know, I have a good time. Even when you lose, or you didn’t place the way you were supposed to place, you have the same attitude that you had before going on stage."

But Bonac believes the sport has changed now, and the positivity and brotherhood have been lost. He stated, "Now it’s different. Now, everybody is so focused, it’s like winning the lottery. Everyone, each one for himself. There’s no brotherhood, I don't see it no more."

Though he shared these thoughts on the changing culture of sport, the question now is what this change means for his journey.

Will William Bonac continue to compete actively?

Although William Bonac didn’t resonate with the modern landscape of building, he made it clear that he hasn’t backed off from competing. In the same podcast, William Bonac asked about his future plans.

He said, "I'm waiting for the summertime," and then wants to start his training schedule. The 43-year-old also revealed that he would "probably do the Dubai show, look for some other shows."
