“World Champion Bodybuilder to a Successful Entrepreneur”- Rich Gaspari Celebrates His 63rd Birthday

Rich Gaspari just reached a new milestone. The bodybuilding legend celebrated his 63rd birthday with a grateful message to his fans. He transitioned from a three-time Mr. Olympia runner-up to a successful entrepreneur. Now, Gaspari is sharing the wisdom that defined his career.

On May 16, the veteran bodybuilder decided to celebrate the day by being grateful and giving a special message to his fans.

"I'm truly grateful for all the things that I have, the things that I've been able to accomplish in being a world bodybuilding champion, to being an entrepreneur, running a multi-million dollar business, and continuing to grow."

He added, "I'm really grateful for all the fans and followers that I have, all the great friends that I have, the family, and to me, this is a great day just to reflect on a lot of great things that have happened in my life."

In his prime, Gaspari was one of the top bodybuilding stars of the 1980s, known for his shredded conditioning, deep muscle definition, dedicated work ethic, and lower-body conditioning. In fact, he was one of the pioneers who introduced glute striations on stage, changing competitive conditioning standards.

His bodybuilding achievements include several IFBB Grand Prix titles, 3-time runner-up at Mr. Olympia (1986, 1987, 1988), and, above all, winning the inaugural Arnold Classic in 1989. During his time, he competed with some of the best bodybuilders of that time, including eight-time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney, and veterans like Lee Labrada and Shawn Ray.

Since his retirement, Gaspari has been running one of the well-known sports supplement brands in fitness called Gaspari Nutrition. He also hosts a podcast on YouTube with the same name.

From time to time, Gaspari shared videos on Instagram giving tips and advice to his followers who are into fitness or want to become bodybuilders.

Just last month, he shared an old video on Instagram where a young Gaspari is telling the camera how there are two voices in his head, one tells him not to train, while the other overpowers it and motivates him to go to the gym.

But there is more where that came from.

Rich Gaspari’s Advice on How to Get Stage-Ready

On May 5, the 63-year-old shared his strategy to carb up and look ripped right before major competitions.

“I never believed in carbing up for just three days. I don’t think it’s enough time. I’ve always said you need to be ready two weeks out from a show."

He continued, “This is where you push your body to the limit, depleting all the glycogen from the muscle, doing your hour, hour and a half of cardio, to really deplete everything out of you so that when you start slowly building back up, two weeks out, you start lessening the training.”

Later, you can cut the cardio a little bit. When you're in the first five days of the last 10 days, you practice carb depletion and carb up in the last five days. It will help you showcase a fuller and more conditioned body.
