WWE star Natalya shares workout insights and recovery process after new Guinness World Record

WWE superstar Natalya Neidhart is no stranger to holding Guinness World Records. The multiple-world-record-holder set yet another record on June 1 for the most WWE submission wins (female). She reached a whopping 257 submission victories, most of them thanks to her signature finishing move, the Sharpshooter.

However, the 44-year-old shows no signs of stopping. During an interview with Muscle and Fitness, she revealed how she genuinely enjoys wrestling, crediting her father for instilling the "fun" of wrestling in her.

“I just try to work hard every day,” Neidhart said. “And I take a ton of vitamins, and I do a lot of recovery work. We’re nothing without our bodies being in the best shape.”

She claimed that she tried to fit in some form of exercise daily. Moreover, she prioritized recovery work, admitting how training hard would offer no results without proper recovery.

“My dad always instilled in me to have fun,” Neidhart told Muscle and Fitness. “He wanted me to live in the moment and have fun. He said the second that you are not having fun in this, you need to go. I’ve always thought about that, and my dad."

Although she put her body through intense, grueling workouts and diets for most of her career, she recently changed her approach to fitness. At 44, she admits to feeling healthier and fitter than ever.

Her typical workout routine consists of full-body dumbbell circuits, bodybuilding workouts (three days a week), and Olympic lifting (two days a week). Her recovery routine involves plenty of stretching, eating 30 grams of protein after each workout, and regular massage therapy.

Along with following a smart workout and recovery plan, she has also made smart changes to her diet.

How Natalya Neidhart manages her diet plan

Neidhart was not always smart with her diet and nutrition plan. She admitted that she previously made herself feel guilty and upset if she indulged in cheat meals.

Over the years, however, she tweaked her approach. Now, she admits to being in a much better place- both mentally and physically.

"I used to beat myself up if I had a cheat meal. The next day I’d be doing crazy amounts of cardio trying to burn off what I ate the night before. Now, I feel like I’ve taken all that pressure off myself,” she admitted, as per Barbend.

Once Neidhart started writing in her food journal, she quickly became hyper-aware of all the items she was consuming every day. This resulted in her losing 25 pounds- naturally and in a healthy way.

“When I kept the food journal in my iCloud notes, it really made me more accountable,” Neidhart said.

“Then I would try to cut off my eating past 8 p.m. It really helped me lose weight and keep it off. I don’t need to have anything big and heavy past 8 p.m., and then when I’m on the road and wrestling, I try to keep that same thing in mind.”

She admitted to opting for a healthy snack like cottage cheese, protein shakes, or Greek yogurt after matches if she felt hungry. She also avoids late-night meals- anything beyond 8 p.m.
